Aron Belka is headed back to LeMieux Galleries for his fifth solo exhibition, “Last Chance Tourism,” and this time he’s inviting folks to take a closer look at New Orleans before the city changes in ways we may not be able to stop. The exhibition takes its name from the growing trend of “last chance tourism,” where people travel to fragile or threatened places to experience them before climate change, development or other human activity alters them for good. Through his work, Belka offers his own version of a “last chance” — a chance to see New Orleans as it stands today, with all its character, beauty and quirks, before time and change have their way with this one-of-a-kind city.
